The First Outstanding Alumni of the Assumption Award: Apostleship – University of the Assumption-2011
This award from my alma mater is God’s manifestation of His great love! I am humbled with this honor accorded to me and my family for with so little that I have done as an “apostle”, God has given me more…immensely, immeasurable…!
When I showed my husband, Nok, the letter congratulating me as the first recipient of TOAA-Apostleship Award, I was amazed when he told me, “I am proud of you!” What a great consolation to hear that from him who, is always reserved and inexpressive. I would like to salute this man who supported my endeavors, albeit with great struggles then when I made way for the mission of evangelization instead of pursuing my career as a certified public accountant.
All who came to know about the award shared my happiness. And when I showed my father the letter, not even Michael Angelo could paint the face of a fulfilled father! I embraced my father tightly as I have never done before. As a preacher himself, my father built the foundation from which I stand. Thank you, Tang for inspiring me to participate in the mission of evangelization.
About 32 years ago, when I marched on our graduation day from then the Assumption College, I was beaming with joy as my mother pinned my medal for academic excellence. The joy today is beyond compare as my parents live to see their ultimate dream came true. It is to see us, their children, being gifts from God to be gifts offered back to God! Thank you, Ma for having considered each one of us, your children as gifts from God. My mother will turn 95 this coming Friday and she happily recalls how she, after a week from giving birth, would consecrate each of us in the church. Thanks to God for my deep rooted faith and indescribable blessing!
Thank you, to my brothers and sisters, all my loved ones, co-workers, and benefactors for supporting me all the way. Thank you, Apu Ceto, Bp. Bobet, Bp. Ambu, Msgr. Sito Sison, my APS director, Fr. Deo, Fr. Francis, the members of the clergy who believed in me, and supported me in the mission, and thank you to the Basic Ecclesial Communities, who taught me much about the way of being church.
Today I wish to share this Apostleship Award with all Assumptionists. No matter where God will plant us, to be a true Assumptionista is to be a faithful disciple of God, like Mama Mary. It is to be faithful to the teachings of our Alma Mater …to participate in its life and mission, as an “Evangelized and Evangelizing Community”.
Hail Assumption, dear Assumption, hail from your children true!
